- What is your reaction/feelings after watching the "Growing Up Online" video? Which character/scenes most resonated/fit with you?
After watching the "Growing Up Online" video my perspectives changed completely. The video helped me understand the dangerous part about giving out your information on the web. I felt really bad for the kid that was being bullied. I think its heartless for people to bully someone online without taking in mind the minority of hurt that they are causing the person that they decide to bully. Regarding the first story of the young lady that felt more comfortable with herself online than in person I believe that is a mistake. In my point of view everyone should feel comfortable and should accept themselves and they shouldn't mind what other people think about them. A person should not feel that they are nothing if they don't have a social network and if they aren't popular in it. I think that out of all the scenes that I can relate to the most would be the one in which the three African American girls would talk about how you were considered "popular" if you had the most friends on Facebook or Myspace which have been the social networks that I am the most familiar with. Other than this I believe that the web and technology was made to simplify ones life, not to abuse from it and use it in the wrong way, therefore I am against all of the problems that were mentioned in this video.
